An Cridhe is the Isle of Coll’s community centre, opened by HRH Princess Anne on 11th July 2012. An Cridhe means “the heart” in Gaelic as the building is at the heart of life on Coll. It is a multi-purpose facility that caters for the many different needs of islanders and visitors.
An Cridhe makes an excellent venue for a variety of events from meetings and conferences to weddings, parties and ceilidhs. If you’ve got an idea for an event or are interested in holding a function then please don’t hesitate to get in touch – our friendly staff are on hand to help.
Whatever your requirements we are always ready to help so please get in touch if you would like to hire any of our facilities.
An Cridhe is open 9am-9pm, 7 days a week (except Christmas & New Year holidays). This wonderful facility operates on a self-serve system with a booking tablet at reception. Should you need assistance, office hours are 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am-12pm Saturday and Sunday.

Sam Thomas
AN CRIDHE AND BUNKHOUSE MANAGER
Sam first came to Coll in 2011 for a Project Trust selection course, and worked with the charity again in 2014 where he met his partner Rhona who is from Coll.
They moved back permanently in 2023 when Sam took on the role of An Cridhe and Bunkhouse Manager and are enjoying being permanently based on the island.

Esther MacRae
CENTRE AND BUNKHOUSE ASSISTANT
Esther has lived on Coll for over 40 years, and has been a vital member of the community for much of this time, spending over 30 years as the district nurse, and remains to this day as the islands local registrar, overseeing many of the weddings of those resident on Coll today.
Esther plays a crucial role in the team at An Cridhe, her nursing experience coming in very useful with first aid and health and safety.

Beth Jamieson
CENTRE AND BUNKHOUSE ASSISTANT
Beth first moved to Coll at a young age with her family, who over the years have run businesses on the island including the cafe and currently the islands shop.
Beth moved back permanently two years ago, and plays a vital role in the An Cridhe staff, helping with cleaning, maintenance and the running of events.

With a large function hall, stage with fully equipped PA and a bar that can be run by An Cridhe, or by yourself, we’ve got you covered!

Tunnell Trust Week

For the past 30 years the Tunnell Trust have hosted this very special and important chamber music study & performance week for talented Young Musicians at the start of their professional careers. The event initially took place in Perthshire but after a highly successful first visit in 2013, the event will return for the twelfth time to the stunning Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides in 2025.
It is always a fantastic week with incredibly talented young musicians filling the community centre with wonderful music, with three concerts to round the week off on Friday and Saturday night, followed by an afternoon concert on Sunday.

Song Tribe Choir
The 50th running of the Coll Fishing Competition takes place this July, and as always the boats will set off from the middle pier hoping to be victorious over all others! The Fishing Dance will take place on Saturday the 2nd of August, complete with prizegiving, ceilidh and bar! If you are victorious be sure to come and receive your prize, and celebrate with a dance and a drink.
The annual Coll Show takes place on the 1st of August, organised by the excellent and always hardworking Coll Show Committee! Make sure to get your produce and other entries in nice and early on the morning of the show (you don’t want to be late and miss out!) so they are ready for judging, and then enjoy all the classic festivities the Coll Show has to offer.
The Show Dance takes place the following Friday with a ceilidh to get you up and dancing, and a bar run by the Show Committee. As always both events will be excellent and a chance to catch up with fellow islanders!

Led by founder and director Ali Burns, Songtribe is a vibrant community choir based in Edinburgh. Founded back in 2015, the choir does a handful of performances per year and often does so to raise funds for charities they believe to do excellent work.
They will perform here on Coll, in An Cridhe, on the 18th of July this summer! An Cridhe will have a bar open, so pop along for a performance which is a bit out of the ordinary for us!
